Sweet Little Nugget
"Our journey started with 6 months of infertility. After demanding to see a fertility doctor we finally took the leap. After lots of testing we were approved to start our treatment. After tons of shots, we had our transfer and shortly after we found out we were pregnant! I was told early on that I had a short thinning cervix but was stable. I was put on progesterone and had lots of ultrasounds. Slowly it was thinning then
my water broke at 27 weeks. We were told we had 4 more weeks but our nugget didn’t agree. Carter was born 2lbs 5oz and crying. He was in the NICU for 108 long, emotionally exhausting days. In utero he had a thickened nuchal translucency which we waited a month to see a genetic Dr. He was cleared and healthy. He had bilateral hernias and a rectal malformation. Carter surprised his doctors with his determination to live. He was never intubated and was doing so well with his breathing.
Once the hernias we repaired he was cleared to come home and come back in a few weeks for the rectal surgery.
He just turned a year and is amazing! We do PT and are letting his milestones come on his terms as he did before and after he was born.
We love him so much and are so blessed he have him in our lives. God is good!" NICU mama Ashley
