Project nicu nurse spotlight

These incredible people hold our hands and our hearts during the most intense and emotional experiences of our life.

They care for our sweet warriors and cheer for them long after they've ended their shift.

“Our primary day nurses, Sue and Jessica, were the first two nurses we met who were taking care of our son Calvin. We connected with them immediately and knew we wanted them to be part of his care team. Calvin was born at 25 weeks, so we knew we would be there for the long haul! Sue and Jess celebrated with us 120 days later on Calvin’s graduation day.

Our primary night nurse Rebecca was with Calvin on the scariest night of our life, about a week after he was born. She was truly an angel taking care of him while also keeping us updated. She showed a genuine care and concern for Calvin and clearly has a passion for what she does. With Rebecca as our primary night nurse, we were able to rest comfortably at night knowing he was being loved on and well cared for by her.

Calvin wouldn’t be here today without these wonderful women and their incredible nursing skills. We as parents couldn’t have emotionally/mentally survived 4 months in the NICU without their support.

We like to think that, like Calvin, they have also graduated - from his nurses to his aunties.”

“Nurse Becky Stuart was our daughter Zoey's primary nurse. She was an amazing care giver to our sweet babe, helped us through some very difficult days, and became forever a part of our family. We appreciate her everyday!”

“Theo’s team of primary nurses not only cared for him throughout his 117-day NICU stay. They cared for my husband and I by teaching us how to navigate our new reality and how to be an advocate for our child. They were our pillars of strength on some of our darkest days and helped humanize our journey through finding joy and gratitude in the littlest things. We truly believe they are angels walking among us.”

The Bussey's would like to sincerely thank all the nurses that took such great care of Kaylin. All of you are superheroes, and we will be forever grateful for each and everyone of you.  You not only took care of her, but you also took care of us during the scariest times of our lives. Together, we celebrated her victories and stayed strong during her triumphs. And a special thank you to all of her primary nurses that acted as her mama bear when we weren't around.  We love you!!!
