#30DaysofBrave- Alessondra

"I wrote this post on day 5 of our NICU stay. My baby was born at 33 weeks and had a brain bleed. He had recently been extubated and was on oxygen and I could finally hold him. But unexpectedly, I couldn’t hold him that day because he had to be under the bili lights. I was having a really hard day and the music therapist came by to see me. Here is what I wrote, 7 months ago now, though it feels like yesterday. Alright kids, it’s time for a beautiful NICU story. Today the music therapist was coming around to play guitar for some of the babies. Due to Covid rules, she is not allowed to sing to them, but parents can. She and I got to talking for a while about the power of music and our mutual love of it, and she asked if I would like to go around with her and help her sing to the babies. So we sang “Three Little Birds” to my Milo, and we sang to the little girl next to him who no longer has a family (can I bring her home too??), and another family who was visiting their little one. And it was beautiful, and it did my heart so, so good. ♥️ "
