#30DaysofBrave -Alyssa & Gracie
On January 28th, at 30 weeks pregnant, I was admitted to the hospital in the hopes that our baby girl could hold on until at least 32 weeks. With a diagnosis of placenta accreta and early labor beginning, I prayed for the best but also knew what the worst could look like. On February 3rd, our little Grace knew it was her time to meet the world. After being wheeled up to the operating room, prepped for what seemed like hours, my husband was finally allowed in to watch our daughter be born before I would be put under general anesthesia and continue on with my surgery. The beautiful sound of her cry is the last thing I remember before they whisked her away and put me to sleep. When I woke up in the ICU, my husband was waiting for me with pictures of our amazingly tough and gorgeous daughter. Weighing in at 2 pounds, 11 ounces we didn’t know what the road ahead looked like. I finally got to meet and hold her on February 5th. I remember walking into her nursery so vividly and I remember the wonderful nurse she had who explained everything that was on her to me. The NICU journey for us was like a rollercoaster but after 47 days, our baby got to come home and be united with her big brother (who had just turned 1 while I was in the hospital). Thank God for the nurses, doctors, and amazing NICU’s around the world that help care for babies just like our little Gracie."
