#30DaysofHope Day 16 - Emma

At our 18 week ultrasound we were told there might be a chance of twin to twin transfusion, we hoped that there wasn’t.

At our 20 week ultrasound we were told twin to twin transfusion is apparent and would need to be monitored, we hoped that the girls would be okay because we caught it early.

We never made it to our scheduled 22 week ultrasound. The discrepancy between Cecilia’s fluids and Ottilie’s fluids caused Ottilie to go into distress and kick start labor at 22 weeks and 2 days. The doctors were able to get the contractions under control. Everyone said, let’s hope we can get to 28 weeks, so hope we did.

But at 23 weeks and 0 days the girls had different plans so we hoped for a safe delivery.
With every complication we hoped for healing.

As we held Ottilie as she left this world we hoped she was at peace. We hoped that she knew our love. We hoped that she would always be with us.

With each surgery Cecilia endured we hoped for healing.

As Cecilia grows we hope she knows the stories of her sister and the love that has guided our family.
It was hope that got us through each day, it was hope that we grasped to when all we could see was pain, it is hope that shines a light on our darkest days.
