#30DaysofBrave Day 16- Rose

My mom is a teacher and on September 14th, 2006, it was a busy day and she wasn’t feeling my kick/move as much. She thought it was because she didn’t have a break to notice. She then realized something was wrong. Got her OBGYN on the phone and said something is wrong.

Her OB said to do a kick count, but she still didn’t feel me. She went to the hospital and saw that the Umbilical Cord was wrapped around my neck. It was cutting off blood flow and my oxygen. They did a C-Section and when I was out, I was blue, not breathing, basically lifeless.

The Neonatologist who was in the OR who is know my Pediatrician was working on me. Many people told her to give up, but she did not.

She prayed and cried over me.

She kept fighting.

I was in the NICU for almost 3 months.

I had a Club Foot, but surgery corrected that. I also have Chronic Lung Disease because of the ventilator and underdeveloped lungs. I plan to work in the NICU after College!

Happy NICU Awareness Month!
